There were a lot of new faces at the March 2019 Textile Forum, among both the exhibitors and visitors to Textile Forum which delivered a very buoyant edition of London’s only luxury fashion fabric fair catering for designers.
While outside of the show, there may have been all the discord surrounding Brexit, inside One Marylebone, everyone was focused on the fabrics.? With all exhibitors able to offer small minimums this provided the flexibility that buyers were looking for in these uncertain times.
Exhibitor Linton Tweeds was showing its new collection of stock lines, Nunoya showed its laminated, waterproof quirky prints, and anything embellished or embroidered was very much in demand. With articles in the press the week of the show highlighting leather shirts as the latest trend it was not surprising to see interest in hides from both G H Leathers and new exhibitor Impero. ?V V Rouleaux the specialist ribbons and trimmings company were also among the new exhibitors.
Jonathan Bernstein of linings specialist Bernstein & Banleys ?continues to develop fun prints and this season one featuring the Fab Four (The Beatles) ?caught ?visitors’ attention.
Fabric buyers came from many sectors of the industry – among them were those looking for fabrics for the Royal family and costumes for the Marvel franchise, selecting among some of the UK’s best womenswear, menswear, lingerie and bridal wear designers.
“With the new garment manufacturing zone sponsored by UKFT, Textile Forum is?well positioned to become a ‘one-stop sourcing platform’ for brands and designers with excellent fabric choice, plus buttons, linings, labels and trimmings.”
